On May 1, 2019, Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner tied the knot right after showing up at the 2019 Billboard Awards.
The ceremony included an Elvis impersonator proclaiming them husband and wife, ring pops as the couple’s bands, and Diplo as the DJ-in-charge. As fun and glamorous the shotgun-themed wedding was, the couple confirmed that it isn’t the big thing yet.
Surprise Wedding
The whole world went crazy when Diplo started a live Instagram feed showing Joe and Sophie exchanging vows, including Joe’s parents. Apparently, the surprise wedding was just a start-up, though it was definitely a legal one.
Legalizing it was actually the main purpose of it. Joe and Sophie plan to have a grand and formal second wedding ceremony in France with a larger crowd. Joe said in an interview that they needed a marriage certificate to make their European wedding dream come true.
There are no specific details about the pair’s wedding plans yet, but there are hearsays that it will take place sometime this summer.
Joe’s Bachelor Party
Meanwhile, the duo hosted their respective pre-nuptial parties. The Jonas Brothers spilled some wild details about Joe’s bachelor’s party like cops calling on them three times, Joe ripping his shirt off and his two other buddies’, and a 1942 bandana from a tequila’s cardboard box. That’s all we got, but we think we’ve heard enough on how epic the party has really been.
Sophie’s Bridal Shower
Well, Lady Sansa definitely knows how to party as well! Together with her best friend, Maisie Williams, also known as her sister Arya Stark in Game of Thrones, they reportedly flew to Benidorm, Spain with their other gal pals.
The group first had a stop-over in London to watch the groom’s concert then hopped on a private jet. Inside the Ryanair, the girls ate some McDonald’s on-the-go and clung bottles of champagne.
Sophie clearly had everything planned out; all of them wore matching colorful headdresses for the bash.
The bride and groom’s wedding showers were seemingly one for the books. With Joe and Sophie’s creative and fun ideas, everyone’s excited to see how they will rock their wedding in France.
Double Overseas Wedding
Another celebrity couple, Zoe Kravitz and Karl Glusman are planning to have their second wedding on the same day and place as Joe and Sophie.
Earlier in February, Zoe and Karl’s wedding planner confirmed that she’s cooking a bigger ceremony in France to follow-through their legal marriage in May.
Both couples share minimal information about their own preparations, but we’re hoping that Europe is ready for what’s about to come.
