LeBron James’ Custom Mercedes-Maybach S 680 Heads to Auction

Helen Hayward Aug 30, 2026

Monterey Car Week is bringing together modern performance cars, rare classics, and highly customized Mercedes models.

One of the more unusual entries is a Mercedes-Maybach S 680 configured to closely match LeBron James’ personal car. The vehicle will later be auctioned to benefit the LeBron James Family Foundation.

A Maybach Built to James’ Taste

The customized S 680 comes from Mercedes’ Manufaktur Made To Measure program and is based on the facelifted model introduced in March. Its light ivory exterior pairs with matching wheels, while “LJ” badges replace the usual V12 markings.

The cabin takes a more personal approach. Stormy Weather Nappa leather covers the interior, with porcelain white stitching adding contrast. Black Piano Lacquer Flowing Lines trim continues the custom theme. Several “LJ” logos appear throughout the cabin, along with subtle engravings connected to James’ family and Akron, Ohio.

One detail places Akron directly into the car: a center-console badge features the city’s GPS coordinates.

The 2027 Mercedes-Maybach S 680 uses a twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V12. It produces 621 hp (463 kW/630 PS) and 664 lb-ft (899 Nm) of torque.

Power reaches all four wheels through a nine-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive. Mercedes lists a 0-60 mph time of 4.3 seconds.

After its Monterey Car Week appearance, the Maybach will head to auction. Proceeds will support the LeBron James Family Foundation.

Mercedes Brings Rare Classics

The Maybach is only one part of Mercedes’ Monterey lineup. In addition, the company is displaying the AMG One, AMG PureSpeed, and AMG G 63 Galactic Pearl. Other models will also highlight the customization options offered through Manufaktur.

Classic Mercedes models will also draw attention. One of them is the one-of-a-kind 1938 540K Streamliner.

Another highlight is the 1905 “American Mercedes.” It is known as the first Mercedes built in the United States. The car was made in Queens, New York. It also recently received a major restoration from Mercedes-Benz Classic. Today, it is the last known surviving example.

The lineup also includes the 1938 320 Streamliner Sedan, 190 E 2.5-16 Evolution II, and 300 SL Roadster. Meanwhile, newer models include the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe and CLK 63 AMG Black Series.

Why the Maybach Stands Out

The James-inspired S 680 connects modern luxury with personal design details rarely found on a standard production car. Its custom badges, Akron references, and tailored interior make it distinct without changing the underlying V12-powered Maybach formula.

The upcoming auction also gives the car a purpose beyond its Monterey appearance, with proceeds directed toward the LeBron James Family Foundation.

Mercedes’ Monterey Car Week display covers a wide span of automotive history, from a 1905 American-built model to modern AMG performance cars. The customized Maybach S 680 adds another layer by combining factory personalization with details tied directly to LeBron James and his family.
